In spite of the bitter cold we have had this past week, the spring Equinox is happening in just a few days, so here's a little winter wrap-up of the goings on here in my cozy studio.
I began the winter season exploring abstraction and finding new ways to paint while using acrylics, a media I have not used for years. It was like trying something new and revisiting an old friend all at the same time.
For a long time now I have had the desire to work larger than my old drafting table would permit. A good sale price allowed me to add an easel to my little space. I haven't painted on an easel in decades. Decades! I am slowly working my way up to larger formats.
I have been painting on canvas as well as experimenting with painting on cradled birch panels. I am really enjoying painting on the panels. The smooth rigid support provides a perfect surface for acrylic paint.
On the business side of things, I was accepted into another gallery allowing for another venue to exhibit my art works. So in addition to With These Hands Gallery on Edisto Island, South Carolina, I am also showing selected works in Hands Gallery, right here in Boone, North Carolina. Which is a good thing because the paintings are really starting to pile up here.
And , of course, I am continuing adding works to my Etsy shop, BlueBird Hill. The paintings featured in this post have been recently added to my shop. Clicking on the image should take you right there. Happy Spring!
I dream in color.
